Leaked document reveals hit list of 50 post offices which could be shut down across our region

A HITLIST of 50 post office closures across York, Selby and North and East Yorkshire has been drawn up, The Press can reveal.

Post Office Ltd intends to axe 2,500 branches across the UK as part of a national review, closing the branches affected in phases.

The announcement on the post offices in York, Selby, Ryedale, East Yorkshire, Harrogate and Knaresborough, the Vale of York, Scarborough and Whitby, and Skipton and Ripon, is due on Tuesday. But The Press has gained exclusive access to this list and can today reveal four branches are likely to close in York, four in Selby, twelve in Ryedale, six in East Yorkshire, four in Harrogate and Knaresborough, seven in the Vale of York, seven in Scarborough and Whitby, and six in Skipton and Ripon.
