CHARLOTTE PERCIVAL finds some of the best homes on the market in York, and North and East Yorkshire.

EVERYONE likes to make their mark on a home, but sometimes it is nice when it has been done for you.

This week we have searched for properties that have been modernised, improved or extended and are now up for sale.

First up, Carter Jonas has a five-bedroom townhouse in Clifton Green, York.

This home features French-inspired architecture and dates back to the 1830s, with beautiful gardens, a garage and parking.

It has been renovated and upgraded by the current owners to combine comfort, space and elegance, sits well back from the road behind a screen of plants and trees and overlooks Clifton Green.

Inside, this Grade II listed townhouse has an entrance hall, a drawing room with a period fireplace and period ceiling coving, a sitting room with a marble fireplace and recessed arches and a kitchen with wall and base units, Corian preparation work surfaces, an integrated fridge, range-style cooker and ceiling down lighters.

There is also a dining room with a quarry-tiled floor, a garden room with a painted stone fireplace, a utility room and two shower rooms.

The master bedroom suite has an arched dormer-style window overlooking Clifton Green, a period fireplace and an en-suite bathroom, while the other four bedrooms also include period fireplaces.

Oustide, there is a pretty front garden with lawn, plants and shrubs and a rear courtyard garden with a stone terrace, brick paved area with intricate circular design, planted beds and a veranda.

The price is available on application.

Next, Redmove has a three-bedroom extended semi-detached bungalow in Scafell Close, Rawcliffe.

Priced at £194,995, it boasts a fitted modern kitchen, a sitting room with a feature fireplace, a bathroom and separate WC and an attached single garage.

The front garden has gravelled and display areas, while the rear garden is mainly lawned with shrubs, plants and boundary hedging.

Redmove also has a four-bedroom house in Allington Drive, Appletree Village, York.

This well-presented semi-detached includes a modern dining kitchen with contemporary-style units and granite worktops, a sitting room with a bay window and planning permission for a two-storey extension.

The kitchen offers fabulous views over the rear garden, which is lawned with a patio, while the front garden has lawn, mature shrubs and a driveway to the garage.

It is priced at £224,950.

Meanwhile, Quantum has an extended detached bungalow in Drome Road, Copmanthorpe.

There are three large bedrooms - one with a stylish en-suite including two feature wash basins - a lounge with sliding doors to the garden, a dining room, a modern kitchen and lovely gardens.

It is priced at £314,950, the vendor will pay the stamp duty and there is no onward chain.

Quantum also has a modernised family home in Bridge Road, Bishopthorpe.

With a price tag of £335,000, this house offers the space of an older home but in the style of a new build.

There are four double bedrooms - one with an en-suite - a stunning open plan kitchen/living area with large folding doors and views over open fields, a separate cosy reception room, a ground floor WC, a utility room and an integrated garage.

Alternatively, you might like this Victorian terrace house in Falconer Street, Holgate, marketed by Otisdale at £159,500.
