TWO people had to be cut free from their vehicle following a two-car collision in North Yorkshire.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance service attended the scene in Melbourne, near Pocklington, along with a rapid response paramedic and two emergency ambulance crews.

An Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the collision happened in the Boundary Farm area of Melbourne, on the B1228, at about 1.30pm.

She said two patients were taken to York Hospital, but could not say how serious their injuries were.

A Humberside Fire Service spokesman said the driver and a passenger of one of the vehicles, both male, had to be cut free using hydraulic equipment.

“The person in the other car was out before we arrived,” he said.

“We gave first aid until paramedics arrived. Then they were taken to hospital.”

Makes you wonder if people have forgotten how to drive - there seems to be a daily serious accident within a few miles of York.

Could have been worse. They could have said Melbourne, Australia!

It's in Humberside, that's why the East Riding of Yorkshire Fire Service, and presumably the East Riding of Yorkshire Police Service attended the crash, in Norther Lincolnshire.
