AS Bond fever sweeps the nation adventurous residents in York and North Yorkshire are being given the chance to step into his shoes and take to the skies in true 007 style.
The gyrocopter was first made famous by Sean Connery’s spy in the cockpit of “Little Nellie” as he took on the bad guys in You Only Live Twice.
Now, to coincide with the latest outing Quantum of Solace, events company Spice Yorkshire and flying company The Gyrocopter Experience have teamed up to create Bond days at Rufforth Airfield.
Scott Armstrong, head of content at The Press, donned his flight suit for the launch, flying over York Racecourse, Bishopthorpe Palace and along the River Ouse at up to 80mph.
He said: “It was a thrilling experience to be flying around the city.
“I’ve seen York from the wheel but this was such a spectacular view because you can fly surprisingly low.”
