YOUR article “Sun shines on hunt gathering” (The Press, December 27) uses the word “hunt” five times in what was a small article referring to various Boxing Day meets around North Yorkshire.

As fox hunting is now illegal perhaps it is time to editorially move on from the now redundant expression “fox hunting” and replace it with the legally more accurate “fox trailing” or “trail hunting”.

To specifically set off to hunt for a fox with horses and dogs has now rightfully and democratically been outlawed, and while some selectively flaunt the law and still pursue these beautiful animals to their deaths, the end of fox hunting is a victory for everyone who has signed a petition, held a banner or engaged in any legal resistance to what is now illegal.
