It’s a two act show; there is one waiting in the wings while the other thinks up new tricks. The trouble is we now know them all and want to play our own part.

The new speaker said the majority of members in Westminster are not there to feather their own nests. Every one of them, including the worst offenders, clapped with gusto. IF there are any who aren't, they are complicit by knowing about it and keeping quiet.

Took a photo of the beacon above Settrington when we were up there recently. They were scattered all around the coast and lit at the turn of the century. This one is over 9 years old now.

Sometimes the weather forecast is less than promising but we set off and invariably find lovely scenes and interesting people. And, as an added bonus there are usually some bright intervals.

I can’t help but feel sorry for the staff and management at York City Football Club on reading about the departure of Onome Sodje. YCFC seem to have done everything to support and help him in his fight to stay in the UK to play football. This effort was not without cost to a club that is always short of funds. However, with the help of Archbishop Sentamu and York MP Hugh Bailey, the appeal was ultimately successful and Onome has been allowed to stay and work in the UK. Just not at York!
