THE WORD is out and it’s loud and clear (although suitably muffled). Dragonfly Acoustics Ltd, of Cawood, Selby, is up and flying.

Now its managing director, Chris Chittock, who with his team of three is successfully taking on some of the biggest environmental consultancies in the UK, is targeting both New Business Of The Year and Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in The Press Business Awards 2008.

Chris, 29, has worked for a number of multi-national and private acoustic consultancy firms since graduating from Salford University in 2001.

By last year he decided the time was right to launch his own, targeting the Yorkshire market, providing consultancy, design, advice and testing.

After only six months of trading, Dragonfly Acoustics has been involved in more than 15 separate projects, 12 of them relating to sites within Yorkshire, with the remainder in Lancashire and Lincolnshire.

Services have ranged from providing acoustics advice for new apartment developments and sports facilities, to complex workplace noise assessment and detailed planning applications.
