YORK soprano Rebecca Newman will launch her latest CD, Cantare, at the York Guildhall on Sunday at 6.15pm.
Her repertoire covers a wide spectrum, ranging from opera classics to modern day “pops”, as demonstrated on her classical crossover album, whose tracks include Francesco Sartori’s Time To Say Goodbye, Puccini’s Un Bel Di Vedremo, Fleetwood Mac’s Songbird, Pie Jesu and Ave Maria. Samples can be heard on her website, www.rebeccanewman.net
Rebecca has invited The New Generation Singing Club to be her special guests at Sunday’s event. “They’ll be performing a variety of numbers, and the evening promises to be interesting, entertaining and enjoyable,” she says.
Tickets are on sale at £5 at the York Theatre Royal box office, tel 01904 623568. All profits will be donated to the Lord Mayor of York’s charities. In addition, 50p from each CD sale will be given to Childline.
