TEEN verve from Alex Fowler and Natalie Jones, who represent Yorkshire in their age group, showed their value to their Riverside club with two fine maximums against Clifton A' and York RI B' in mixed division one of the York Badminton League.
The 15-year-old duo recorded 145-100 against Clifton followed by 126-95 at the Institute against opposition with much greater experience.
York RI A' scored an 8-1 away win over University Students A'. Tim Jarvis and Nicola Coggins returned 141-100 for the Institute, while Paddy Clarke and Nikki Fall picked up the student consolation after easily the best student display.
Huntington A' opened their mixed two season in disappointing fashion with a 5-4 defeat at Selby Jubilee A' followed by a 2-7 home defeat by a vibrant Shepherds A' team.
James and Ning Dawson were the Jubilee match-winners with three wins for 139-121, while Sean Ogley and Lisa McClaren provided the impetus for the Shepherds' victory with three straight wins for 134-110.
University Students B' opened their mixed three account with a 7-2 win at Fulfordgate A'. Paddy Clarke and Lucy Wallington were in tremendous form for the campus team, setting the standard with three straight wins for 129-96.
There was a good 7-2 away win for RI Tuesday/Thursday C' over Terry's in mixed five. Hannah Saunders and David Preece were best for the Institute with three straight wins for 126-57, while the new Terry's pairing of Rachel Ball and Chris Smethurst put in the best home display.
Clifton A' made it three wins in a row after a 7-2 away win over Huntington in ladies division one. Shelagh Barker and K Broster were in great form for Clifton, continuing their excellent positional play with three straight wins for 126-83.
RI Tuesday/Thursday A' had mixed fortunes in men's one. A 9-0 loss at University Students A' was followed by a 7-2 home win over Clifton A'. Will Wiseman and Paddy Clarke took the University honours with a fine maximum for 126-75, while the RI Tuesday/Thursday win saw Mike Colley and Gary Routledge hit good home form to secure three wins for 143-120.
University Students A' extended their winning start with a third victory that saw them beat Riverside 8-1. Once again Paddy Clarke and Will Wiseman came good for the campus ranks with another maximum in a return of 143-86.
Pocklington men's team made it five wins from five games with a 6-3 home win over York RI B' before just losing out 5-5 at University Staff Club in men's division three.
Oliver Cohen and Ben Black took all three York RI points with a return of 169-160. Xirocheng Ge and Lin Eng Kiat put the Staff Club on the winning trail with a superb maximum yielding straight wins for 126-85.
