Selby Town face the “hardest possible draw” in round one of the FA Vase when they travel to reigning Northern Counties East League premier division champions Winterton Rangers.

The Robins are bemoaning their luck in knockout competition, having been dumped out of the FA Cup by UniBond League giants Guiseley and then the NCEL President’s Cup by in-form rivals Pickering Town.

Said assistant boss Gary Cygan: “We haven’t been lucky in the draw. This is about as tough as we could have got, but we’ve got a team capable of beating them.”

Aside from Adam Russell being unavailable, Selby pick from a full squad with Ian Welburn, Bruno Holden and Sean Gorman fighting for places up front.

Tadcaster Albion will be looking for a spot of respite from their league troubles when they entertain Spennymoor Town in the Vase.

Paul Marshall’s men lie second-bottom in the NCEL first division with just one win and three points from their first seven fixtures.

Albion have also lost all four of their league fixtures at Ings Lane.

Scarborough Athletic travel to Esh Winning in round one.

Harrogate Railway Athletic have an FA Trophy preliminary round tie at home to FC Halifax Town.
