THE fight for top four places ensured a superb finale to the Pickering Individual Darts League season.

Terry Temple had wrapped up top spot the previous week, and the in-form Phil Bointon kept his nerve to clinch runners-up spot by two points from Steve Oldfield.

Bointon picked up five points from his two matches, with a 3-2 victory over Steve Taylor and a 3-2 defeat to Temple.

Oldfield, who picked up seven points from ten in his rearranged matches from last week, was thumped 4-1 by Andy Strangeway.

He then went into the last match of the season knowing only a 5-0 win over John Spoors would give him second place.

Spoors turned in a great performance to win 3-2 and claim fourth place ahead of Strangeway.

Strangeway followed up his win over Oldfield with another high-scoring performance against Mark Dalby.

He hit 12 ton-plus scores, including a 180 maximum, on his way to a 5-0 whitewash.

Dalby had earlier missed out on his maiden victory in a 3-2 defeat to Spoors.

Taylor finished his campaign in style with a fine 4-1 victory over Roger Dawson. A total of 15 ton-plus scores were registered as Taylor showed his class.

As well as taking the title, Temple picked up the cash for three fastest legs, with two 13-darters and a 14-darter.

The prize for highest checkout went to Bointon for his 130 (T20, 20, bull) from the very first week.
