IN-FORM arrows ace Martyn Turner followed up the greatest victory of his life with another last 32 showing at the Blue Square UK Open East Midlands tournament.

Turner defeated world darts number two and former UK Open, World Matchplay and World Grand Prix title winner James Wade 6-4 to reach the third round at the Taunton Players’ Championship before bowing out to Dutchman Toon Greebe.

He followed that up by reaching the same stage in the East Midlands event at Derby.

Turner triumphed over Lee Williams (6-1) and world championship quarter-finalist Paul Nicholson (6-2) before going down 6-2 to Kevin McDine.

Acomb’s Chris Thompson pushed world number six and Premier League star Mervyn King all the way before he lost 6-5 in the previous round, while Clifton Hotel team-mate John Quantock suffered a first round whitewash against Jason Clark.

In the Players’ Championship at the same venue, Turner beat Steve Perkins 6-0 but lost 6-2 to world number 14 Colin Osbourne in the second round. Thompson fell 6-3 at the first hurdle to Darren Latham.
