Walking into The Duchess prior to Athlete’s set, I was not sure what to expect from the Deptford band; they’ve been fairly quiet of late and this was to be the unveiling of new material from their forthcoming album, Black Swan Observing the stillness, it was apparent that the hot, heavy weather had kept many away until the headline act, on the venue’s first anniversary. The heat, along with the number of people gradually built, until the previously empty auditorium filled.
