THE Hair were up for creating a party at Fibbers on Saturday night, and it seemed no-one in the audience was going to argue.
On the contrary, the audience in the busy venue were in high spirits and were obviously up for a good time.
It was just as well, really, as from the off, singer Sam Robson encouraged people to dance, and by the end of their set, plenty had taken him up on his word.
The Hair's brand of electro indie rock is inventive, energetic and upbeat, which is no doubt why this band from York and Leeds are doing so well, with their debut album, Indecisions, going top 40 in Japan.
This was new drummer Vijay's second gig (he used to be in a band with some of the Kaiser Chiefs) yet it was impossible to tell, as the band sounded tight and confident.
Catchy electro disco number Disco/ Retro (the video of which was shown on the Main Stage at last year's Leeds Festival) saw the crowd singing along with the band and Stocks didn't disappoint either.
New song 1982 offered a touch of Kaisers-esque Oh Oh Oh's chorus. Left Foot Right Foot is a song you only have to hear once for it to stick in your head, with its cowbell intro and brothers Lee and Neil Clark swapping instrumental duties.
New single Blood, out at the beginning of June, has a funky rhythm that you can't help moving to. The finale came with all four band members playing drums on Ghosts, which left the audience gasping for more.
