Preview: Emi Jarvi features on tracks

10:20am Friday 13th June 2008

YORK singer Emi Jarvi is featured on two tracks released this week by the British trance specialists Conspiracy Recordings.

In 2007, Emi was approached by the Nottingham label to co-write and record vocals with Jon O'Bir, a rising star on the trance scene. The relationship proved successful when Vandit Records, a German label run by trance superstar Paul Van Dyk, picked up O'Bir's album From Within for worldwide distribution.

It features both numbers co-written and performed by Emi, Do It All Again and Tell Me, one of which will be picked for single release later this year.

"I'm shocked and really pleased about all this," says Emi. "It's my first trance-outing, but I'm always keen to get stuck into new music and genres.

"Working with Rob Stevenson and Jon O'Bir at Conspiracy was fantastic - Rob has lived in York his whole life and writes and mixes trance music for people all over the world.

"They're both awesome to work with. We're writing more material even as I speak and I've had interest from other trance DJs as well. It's all go."

Emi is originally from Chicago and crossed the Pond three years ago to marry Englishman James Carmichael, and they now own and run a web design company in York, SiteClick Ltd (www.siteclick.co.uk).

Her musical career is blossoming too: "I'm a professional vocalist, providing studio vocals, writing vocals and singing lead/backing vocals from my home studio in Lawrence Street in York," she says.

"I also perform professionally solo and in an acoustic duo with my husband, and we also have a full band called Exit Project."

A live session by Jon O'Bir, featuring Emi's vocals on Do It All Again, can be found on the Vandit Digital page. From Within is available from this week on vinyl, followed by CD and digital download release on July 11.
