Flying Ducks Youth Theatre will play to a full house at every performance of Disney's High School Musical at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, from Tuesday to Saturday.
"Shimmy over Zac Efron, the Ducks mean business, " says director Stephen Outhwaite.
"I'm absolutely delighted that I managed to secure the rights to the stage version of the hit Disney TV film, as the six performances sold out two weeks before the opening night, and the Flying Ducks are the first amateur theatre group to achieve this feat."
Can the Ducks live up to this hype? Step up to the stage Sam Whyte, who will play Troy, the young basketball star, and Amy Hargreaves, as Gabrielle, the cleverest girl in school and Troy's love interest.
The young loves will be joined by their well-meaning friends Chad (Dan Killen) and Taylor (Rebecca King) and not so well meaning high-school drama divas Sharpay (Gracie Whittington) and Ryan (Rob Joyce), plus a supporting cast of more than 35.
"What ensues is a mixture of fast-paced dancing; high-tempo songs and heart-warming ballads, " says Stephen.
"Will our two budding stars ever find a way to overcome the obstacles placed in front of them and make everyone realise that they really are 'All in this together'?"
Evening performances start at 7.30pm; next Saturday's matinee at 2.30pm. Box office (for returns only): 01904 768963.
